The Challenge
As Biocon scaled across generics, biosimilars, and novel biologics, operational data remained fragmented across disconnected ERP, LIMS, and manufacturing execution systems, with no shared data layer connecting them. Manual data entry and inconsistent record structures across these silos meant leadership had no unified view of cross-functional performance, and every regulatory audit required manually reconciling records across multiple systems of record, a slow, error-prone process that introduced real compliance risk at scale.
Our Execution
We designed and deployed a centralized Data Lake architecture with standardized ETL pipelines to ingest, normalize, and reconcile data across R&D, QMS, and manufacturing execution systems, eliminating the manual data mapping that previously connected them. On top of that foundation, we built a BI layer with drill-down compliance dashboards, giving leadership real-time visibility into cross-functional KPIs and giving quality teams direct, auditable access to batch and process variance data without cross-referencing multiple systems of record. The entire architecture runs on a hybrid on-prem and cloud model, with role-based access controls and full audit trails to meet regulatory data integrity requirements, keeping sensitive manufacturing and research data within Biocon's own infrastructure while still enabling the compute scale needed for advanced analytics.
